I still have a VHS tape with Gary presenting The Style Council on Ear Say playing Live , You're The Best Thing and Big Boss Groove. Loved that programme. Also , I remember he had The Jesus and Mary Chain on there ..me and a few schoolmates talked about that for weeks !☺️
Lovely stuff seeing Gary spotlighted like this. Top fella who I remember well from my own early teenage excursions to gigs, nights out and such like across the Capital. Brilliant.
An absolutely splendid slice of my life. I have vivid memories (and probably on c60 somewhere) of Gary presenting the Tuesday Club on Capital. Interviewing Elvis Costello, he asked who worried him, who might usurp him and Elvis said “Roddy Frame’ That opened one door of sonic influence. But before that seeing GC do his regular appearances at Bogarts in Harrow and especially a PA WITH Mark Riley, AKA Matt Bianco
Three idiosyncratic things Mr C has got: Just enough actual enthusiasm; Carry off wearing double denim , or what looks like it; Fantastic laugh that should be on a sounds effect (sic) library album.
glad to see your still on the buzz, remember you trips into Robot floral st.. back in the early 80's.. good chats about what was going on inand around London...great memories...
One of the most genuine, lovely people you could ever meet.
